This 2 disk video set contains all the basic information and techniques that you need to get started painting in transparent watercolor quickly and simply with no gimmicks. The videos cover the four areas that I think are essential to the beginning painter - Materials and Setup, Painting Basics, Value and Color, and Washes. Each section is explained in detail. These are the techniques that I use on a daily basis to create my paintings.

This video contains the painting "Pueblo Ruins." Covered in this video is my simplified method for creating the value pattern sketch using felt tip markers, along with the "mingled" wash on damp paper.

This video contains the painting "Chimayo Church." Covered in this video is the idea of using both "positive" and "negative" painting to create form and depth, along with creating both the value pattern sketch and the color value sketch using watercolor.

This video contains two paintings, "Teton Pond" and "Monterey Fish Shack." Covered in this video is the "direct" method of painting shapes with the correct "color-value," and is considered to be the fastest way to paint in transparent watercolor.

This video contains the painting "Firehole Falls." Covered in this video is the Wet-into-Wet method, which creates a"loose" painting. This is an excellent video for those of you who paint too "tight" and want more freedom in your paintings.

This video contains the painting "Ouray Cabin." Covered in this video is the idea of using "out of register" washes, made famous by the "West Coast" school of painting. This is a unique and fun style of watercolor painting which can be used to paint a variety of subjects.

This video contains the painting "Mountain View Lodge" which was painted live in Pioche, NV. Covered in this video is the "direct" method of painting and the entire painting was done in a single sitting on location.
